We locate the actual entry point of water — not just the symptom. A ceiling stain below a shower can have five different causes; identifying the real source is the difference between fixing it once and fixing it repeatedly.
Every metre of grout line and silicone joint is inspected for cracking, separation, discolouration, and porosity. Failed grout and silicone account for the majority of shower leaks we see in Sydney.
We tap-test the tiles to identify failed adhesion or membrane separation underneath. A drummy tile means the bond has broken — which changes whether a no-tile-removal repair is appropriate.
A professional moisture meter measures moisture levels in adjacent surfaces — walls, ceilings below, neighbouring units. This confirms whether the leak is active and how far the water has migrated.
We map exactly where water damage has spread, including any visible mould, paint bubbling, timber rot, or efflorescence. This determines whether other trades need to be involved (e.g. plasterer, painter) after our work is complete.
Based on points 1–5, we determine whether the leak can be fixed with our non-invasive epoxy regrouting and resealing method, or whether it requires more invasive work (membrane replacement, tile removal). We tell you honestly which option you need — even if it means the job isn't ours to do.
